Iced coffee recipe

For those of you who can't stand to give up your coffee during the summer heat, enjoy this cool iced treat. This is a budget friendly recipe that is as easy to make as it is to enjoy. Serves 4.

ICED COFFEE
  • 4 cups strong, fresh brewed coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 3 cups crushed ice
  • 1/2 cup cream
Directions
Brew then refrigerate coffee until cool. Add vanilla and sugar to the water and stir until dissolved. Refrigerate until cool. Add ice and coffee to 4 glassess, add cream and sugar mixture to taste. Stir well and serve. Garnish with whipped cream if desired.

Cook's Notes
  • if you do not like vanilla-or wish to experiment with different flavors-try adding chocolate syrup or flavored coffee creamers to this recipe.
  • To keep from watering down your cold coffee drinks by using ice cubes, make a few trays of frozen coffee cubes and store them in a Ziploc bag.
