It's sad that so many people have never tried fresh French fries. In the name of convenience, they grab frozen ones from the grocery and rob their taste buds of something truly magical.

FRESH CUT FRENCH FRIES
    • 1-1 1/2 pounds russet potatoes
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • dash black pepper
    • dash cayenne pepper
    • cold water
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying
    Directions
Wash and peel (if desired) potatoes. Slice into fries. Place in cold water to prevent discoloration. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium high heat. Sift together all remaining ingredients except water. Add just enough water to the spices to create a batter. Dip fries, one at a time, in the batter and place in the hot oil. Do not crowd the skillet or the fries will stick together. Cook until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Be sure to allow oil to heat back up before cooking additional fries. This will ensure they all turn out nice and crisp.
